NewJeans recently won the Best Performance Award at the 9th Asia Artist Awards (hereinafter referred to as ‘2024 AAA’), which was held on December 27.
As their win was announced, NewJeans expressed their joy at receiving the Best Performance Award for their song “How Sweet”. It was noticed that similar to previous appearances, the members introduced themselves without saying the group’s name, likely due to their feud with HYBE and ADOR.
On stage, the girl group shared, “We’re so happy. This is an award we really wanted to give to our performance directors, who carefully design every stage and put in so much effort. Our members also worked hard to create great performances, so we’re thrilled to win this award. We’re grateful to our dancers as well.”
They continued, “We want to thank Min Hee-jin, and seeing so many of our Bunnies (NewJeans’ fandom) with their light sticks was very touching. When we debuted, we also won the Best Performance Award, and we’re so grateful to receive it again. Our members seem to love this award the most, so we’re very happy. Performance isn’t just about dance—it’s also about having comfortable and stylish outfits that make the performance shine. We’re thankful to our staff for providing us with such great outfits for our stages.”
Danielle also spoke to the microphone in English, stating, “There can’t be these amazing performances without our music. We really want to give a huge thank you to our CEO Min Hee-jin, thank you so much, we love her so much.”
Meanwhile, amid their feud with HYBE and ADOR, alongside Min Hee-jin’s resignation from the agency, NewJeans have consistently shown support for the creative director. Most recently, member Minji wore a shirt with Min Hee-jin’s name and face on it as NewJeans appeared on a radio show.
